50 degrees and sunny, not what you expect for weather on December 5th, but this is what the 6 teams got while participating in the first ever Badlands Bass Bandits ICE series event! The weather was awesome, the bass were biting, and each team’s phone was constantly getting notified with the “Got One!” voice from the Fish Donkey app letting them know a new catch was registered.
Early on limits were filled and the largest fish of the day were caught, including Alex Martel’s 19” largemouth that took big fish honors. At the conclusion of the day only 4.75” separated 1st from last, making the competition fierce, but the anglers who fished hard throughout the day slowly upgraded their stringers and persevered. Tanner Mallams (81.75”) came in 1st and Team Bullinger (80.25”) on his coat tails in 2nd.
All anglers shared in the “Spill the Beans” session and most fish were caught in less than 5 feet of water using various power and finesse techniques like burning crankbaits, dragging Carolina Rigs, and Ned Rigs. Reminder, the next tournament is scheduled for January 9th from 9 am to 3 pm.
