On June 8th the Bandits crew met up on legendary New Johns Lake, one of North Dakota’s premier fisheries. It was a great turnout as 20 teams participated in this recent event. Of course mother nature participated as well dropping temps into the high 50’s and hurling 25 mph winds mixed with a bit a rain. On a positive note Mother Nature did provide the Bandits with a spawn bite which helped many anglers catch there fish. Even though it was the tail end of the spawn cycle and most bass were guarding fry, there were some really nice fish caught. But the team who would win the event would go on to catch a big female smallmouth that weighed 5.40 lbs. This behemoth of a smallmouth was caught by Daren Schneider and Devin Hofmann which not only helped them win the event but comfortable separate themselves from the rest of the field. Daren and Devin’s first place final total weight tipped the scales at 12.87 lbs! Let’s not forget to mention that their 5.40 lb smallmouth was the biggest bass of the event but also biggest smallmouth ever caught and weighed during a Bandits club event.
Fishing in their first event of 2019 was team Marty Mantz and Matt Sullivan, these two juggernaughts put together a nice bag a fish to bring home the 2nd place trophy. Their final total weight that helped them cash a check was 11.41 lbs with their biggest fished of the day weighing in at 4.14 lbs.
Team Tanner and Ron Mallams had another strong showing by taking home the 3rd place trophy. Tanner and Ron have had a great start to the 2019 season and Tanner is currently our points leader. Keep it up Team Mallams you have a target on your back now!
Our next club event will be our clubs annual camping weekend, this year it will be held on Spiritwood Lake. Lots and lots of food to eat during our annual President’s picnic as well as our ladder ball tournament. This all takes place June 29th!
