The Bandits were scheduled to fish Indian Creek Dam last weekend but due to possible heavy rains they decided to head to Lake Tschida to avoid getting stuck on gravel roads. It was tough making that choice because there were a lot of anglers looking forward to returning to Indian Creek. The Bandits made their appearance for the first time back in 2009. That day the lake didn’t fish up to its potential but perhaps we will try to go there again another year.
Regardless of where the Bandits fish it will always be a good time and Lake Tschida provided the club with great fishing had by all. For the second time in a row records were broken. The previous tournament lake record for Lake Tschida was 7.62 lbs that was held by Jeanette Reinbold set back in 2013 but Chase Fernandez had the lucky had today. Chase took home the first place prize and a 100 points towards the Angler of the Year standings by weighing in 8.47. Not only did this bring him first place but it’s a new tournament record for Lake Tschida. Good job Chase! Another club member who had a great day was Steve Basinger who weighed in 8.43 which also broke the old record. Steve took home a 2nd place finish but he also took home a nice paycheck thanks to weighing in the biggest bass of the tournament a 3.44 lber! Nice work Steve! Also breaking the old club record was Shawn Keena who boated 3 nice keeper smallmouth that allowed him to take home a 3rd place finish by weighing in 7.94 lbs. Honorable mentions of the tournament go out to our last two anglers who rounded out the top 5 which were Bob Reinbold with 7.86 and Tony Reinbold 7.47 lbs. Congratulations to all of our anglers.
As mentioned above Lake Tschida provided ample fishing for our club members because the average weight per fish was 2.53 lbs! This average bested the old lake record set way back in 2007 which was 2.17 lbs! So once again the Bandits were blessed with another great tournament twice in a row. It is shaping up to be a great year. Speaking of shaping up the Angler of the Year award has shifted and Chase Fernandez is your current points leader. The current club member that is leading the Rookie of the year standings is Hunter Wood with 188 points and in second place is Allison Gaw with 138 points.
The next stop on the Bandits 2014 schedule is Lake Audobon. This lake was listed in the Bassmaster Magazine Top 100 lakes in the country in 2013. So get ready for some good weights on August 7th. We will be docking out of Totten Trail Ramp. We are all looking forward docking out of this nice ramp. We’ll see ya there!
