Manley Gets First Win At Sweetbriar!
Curt Manley with 2 nice bass
Sometimes when your fishing and the weather is nasty and windy and cold you ask the man up above why cant I have a nice day just once during one of these tournaments! well be careful for what you ask for! Saturday was a 90 degree day with no wind in the middle of July and the fishing was just about what you would expect given those conditions.
Couple days prior to when it was cooler and cloudy the fish were biting real good and were big! The day prior to the tournament the weather turned very hot and stale and the fishing came almost to a standstill, my guess is the sunshine pushed em into spawning mode and on there beds as the fish i caught a few days prior were full of eggs and feeding.
Whatever the case was it was to say the least difficult to even get a bite much less catch a fish, many a good angler threw everything they had at the Bass all day long only to get nothing for there efforts, so on this day the bass won the battle and the fisherman got a good suntan and lots of practice! round 1 goes to Sweetbrier for it thoroughly whooped everyone on Saturday! this is a good lake with lots of big fish I just think the sun and hot temps and lack of wind just shut em down, they did not totally win the battle though for some anglers managed to outsmart a few of them.
Busting out his first Bandit's tournament win was Curt Manley, of Bismarck, catching the only limit of the day. His total tipped the scales at 6.07lbs after a dead fish penality cost him half a pound, but it was still enough to finish in first place!
All total 18 anglers caught and weighed in 14 fish for 25.14 pounds, an average of 1.8 pounds per fish.
Catching the only limit of the day was Curt Manley, here are the results for top 3
1st : Curt Manley 3 fish 6.07 pounds
2nd : Marty Mantz 2 fish 5.76 pounds
3rd : Jonathan Campbell 2 fish 2.5 pounds
B/B : Marty Mantz 3.23 pounds.
