2008 Nelson Classic Results

Finally! After working hard at trying to capture his first Classic Championship with the Bass Bandits Paul Reinbold won his first Classic in three years. The 3rd annual Badlands Bass Bandits Classic Championship was once again held at Nelson Lake on September 14th. The Bandits had a great showing of club members for this special event on a cool breezy day at one of their favorite lakes to fish. Everyone knows when you fish Lake Nelson the anglers have a great chance at landing a big bass, and that is just what Paul did to help him get the victory. Reinbold's big bass weighed 4.85lbs and was big enough to capture the Big Bass award for the classic tournament as well as for the season. Paul's final total weight for the tournament was 6.75lbs with two fish, despite the fact he was shy one fish for his limit it was just enough to edge out the rest of the pack. Coming in at a very close 2nd place was Bryan Hinton of Minot, who also weighed two fish. Hinton also caught a big lake Nelson largemouth that weighed 4.37lbs. Which helped give Hinton's final classic weight at 6.40lbs, not bad for his first classic appearance!! Coming in at a strong 3rd place finish was the 2008 Angler of the Year Tony Reinbold with a three fish limit that weighed 6.12lbs. Reinbold's third place finish brought his total points for the season at 74, just shy of the 75 pt record set last year by Janine Wetzel. Amanda Reinbold and Matt Jahner rounded out the top five for the classic each weighing a three fish limit at 5.63lbs and 5.36lbs.

  Winning the Classic Team Trophies were Teammates Tony Reinbold and Bryan Hinton. These two anglers drew each others names to set the teams at the beginning of the tournament. With their two weights combined they weighed at 12.52lbs (5 fish).  Just edging out Paul and Amanda Reinbold who's team weight total was 12.38lbs (5 fish).

After the classic was over and tournament champion was crowned the bass bandits held their annual classic bbq and discussed tournaments dates and lakes for the 2009 season. Even though the season has come to an end once again I can guarantee you that the bass bandits will be gearing up for the up coming season during the winter months. As well as preparing for the 2nd annual Ice Bowl tournament. Until then...FISH HARD!
